Viscosity reduction of heavy oil/bitumen through physical treatment

Viscosity reduction of heavy oil/bitumen through physical treatment in order to minimize diluent addition.
Adding diluent is a significant cost. In the second quarter of 2017, diluent used to transport bitumen to the USGC, cost producers nearly US$14 per barrel of bitumen. Eliminating or reducing diluent would make it less expensive to ship these crude oils from Alberta to markets and make them more competitive with crude oils supplied via water. It is important that pursuing as our original goal was - “economy of viscous fuel by the method of mechanical processing” we always got the effect of lowering the viscosity of heavy oil products, which we initially considered to be a “side effect” and not worthy of attention.
